Heinz Wildenhain

Heinz Wildenhain (born December 11, 1927 in Uhlmannsdorf ) is a former functionary of the SED in the GDR .

Life

The son of a locksmith and caretaker as well as a factory worker completed after elementary school in Ziegelheim and Schmölln from 1942 to 1944 vocational training as an industrial clerk and was also a member of the Hitler Youth (HJ) during this time . He then worked from December 1944 to April 1945 as a worker in the Reich Labor Service (RAD) before doing his military service in Plauen from February to May 1945 as a soldier in the Wehrmacht .

After the Second World War , between 1945 and 1949 he worked as an accountant and chief accountant at VEB Gas- und Wasserwerk Schmölln, received the young activist award in 1949 and then worked as an operations assistant at the Stadtwerke KWU Schmölln until 1951. After joining the Free German Youth (FDJ) in 1951, he studied between 1951 and 1955 at the Berlin School of Economics , where he graduated with a degree in economics . During this time he joined the SED in 1952 and was also a member of the Central Party Leadership (ZPL) of the HfÖ from 1953 to 1955.

After completing his studies, he became an employee in the planning and finance department of the Central Committee of the SED and was initially an instructor for economic accounting, after completing his military service with the NVA in 1956, from 1957 to 1961 instructor for monetary and credit policy and then sector manager, marriage Between 1969 and 1982 he was deputy head of the planning and finance department of the Central Committee of the SED. From 1959 to 1962 he was involved in secret sales of securities by Jewish victims of the Holocaust to the USA , which were initiated by the Deutsche Handelsbank in East Berlin .

In May 1982 he succeeded Karl Raab as head of the financial administration and party operations department of the Central Committee of the SED and held this position until November 1989. In this position he had largely autonomous powers. Wildenhain, who received the National People's Army Medal of Merit in 1981 , was also chairman of the wages and salaries commission of the SED Central Committee between 1982 and 1989 and in 1986 also became a member of the Politburo Central Commission for the Care of Old, Honored Party Members. He was also awarded the Patriotic Order of Merit (VVO) in 1984 and the VVO in Gold in 1987.

After the end of the GDR, he was in custody arrested and investigations initiated against him, in order to obtain information about the party assets. However, he refused to provide information and was released from custody.

Later he settled in Hallein in Austria .
