Volta Limburg Classic
The Volta Limburg Classic (until 2011 Hel van het Mergelland ) is a Dutch road bike race.
The one-day race has been held in the province of Limburg since 1973 . Until 1992 it was a pure amateur race, in 1993 it was included in the UCI calendar for the first time in category 1.5. The race has been part of the UCI Europe Tour since 2005 and is classified in category 1.1. The record winner is the Dutchman Raymond Meijs with four successes.
In 2001 the race was canceled due to the occurrence of foot and mouth disease .
