Helen Berman

Helen Julia Berman , née Hélène Julia Cohen , Hebrew הלן ברמן(Born April 6, 1936 in Amsterdam ) is a Dutch - Israeli artist . Her style varies between realistic impressionism and lyrical- abstract expressionism . She has exhibited in Israel, Germany and the Netherlands.

Helen Berman was born in Amsterdam as Hélène Julia Cohen and is a Holocaust survivor . She was trained as a textile designer at the Academy for Industrial Design in Eindhoven . Berman took special courses in the liberal arts at her academy. Graduated in 1960, Berman designed fabrics for several companies. Several of her designs have received awards and publications in the specialist press.

During the 1970s she studied drawing and painting with the Dutch artist Thierry Veltman. In 1978 Helen immigrated to Israel where she continued to refine her art. During the decade of her residence in Jaffa , Berman was an active part of the local artistic community and a member of the Israeli Painters and Sculptors Association. Helen Berman lives and works in Tel Mond now.
