Helen Barnett-Burkart

Helen Burkart ( Helen Catherine Burkart , née Barnett ; born May 13, 1958 in London ) is a former Swiss sprinter of British origin.

In 1982 she was starting for England at the Commonwealth Games in Brisbane ninth over 200 m .

At the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, she reached the semifinals over 400 m and came fourth with the British team in the 4 x 400 meter relay .

In 1986 she was eliminated over 400 m at the Commonwealth Games in Edinburgh in the preliminary run and at the European Athletics Championships in Stuttgart in the semi-finals.

As part of the Swiss 4 x 400 meter relay, she was eliminated from the 1992 Olympic Games . In the following year the Swiss quartet with the line-up Burkart, Regula Zürcher , Marquita Brillante and Kathrin Lüthi came in eighth at the World Athletics Championships in Stuttgart in 1993 and set the current national record with 3: 28.52 minutes.

In 1986 she married the sprinter Stefan Burkart , who died of cancer in 2020. Their son Nishan Burkart is a soccer player.
