Helena Rüegg
Helena Rüegg (* 1959 in Zurich ) is a German bandoneonist , actress and author.
Rüegg completed an acting training at the New Munich Drama School and had engagements a. a. at the Residenztheater in Munich , at the Stadttheater Basel and at the Schauspielhaus Bochum (among others as Luise in Kabale und Liebe and Lena in Leonce and Lena ). In Buenos Aires she studied bandoneon with Rodolfo Mederos . She was a member of Juan José Mosalini's Gran Orquesta de Tango and performed as a soloist with the BBC Symphony Orchestra at the Royal Albert Hall .
With the Argentine guitarist Quique Sinesi and occasionally with Winfried Holzenkamp , Rüegg forms the duo or trio Siru Tangjazzo , in whose programs pieces of the classical tango and the tango nuevo contrast with their own compositions and improvisations. She is also a member of the quartet of the pianist Gabriel Vallejo (with the cellist Stephan Breith and the double bass player Winfried Holzenkamp). With the Duo Tango Sensation (with the guitarist Christian Kiefer ), Rüegg leads through 100 years of tango history in a program and performs compositions by Astor Piazzolla , Isaac Albéniz and Igor Stravinsky , Aníbal Troilo and Horacio Salgán .
In 1997 Rüegg appeared at the Prinzregenttheater in Bochum in Eckard Koltermann's chamber opera Der Ungeheure Raum based on texts by EE Cummings , directed by Sibylle Broll-Pape . She also sings in Koltermann's jazz ensemble Collage 11 .
Rüegg travels as a soloist with a concert in which she tells the story of tango. It also gives recitals with Yiddish songs ( Jefet, tell! , From Luftmenschen and the Golden Peacock , 2007). Furthermore, she composed and interpreted music for various readings a. a. with Peter Lieck and Bernt Hahn ( Marcel Proust : A la recherche du temps perdu ), Monica Bleibtreu ( Asche, Asche , poems by Alejandra Pizarnik ) and Rufus Beck ( MA Numminen : Tango, my passion ).
In 1990 Rüegg published the historical youth novel Liese Litt in Ravensburger Buchverlag . In the following years she worked as an author and producer of music programs a. a. for West German Broadcasting . With Arne Birkenstock she wrote the book Tango, Geschichte und Geschichte , which was published in 1999 and has since seen several editions.
