Helene Staegemann
Helene Staegemann (born April 18, 1877 in Hanover , † August 24, 1923 in Partenkirchen ) was a German singer ( soprano ).
Life
She was the daughter of Max Staegemann and his wife, the violinist Hildegard Kirchner († June 16, 1913 in Dresden). Her grandmother, Mathilde Staegemann, née Devient, was a sister of the famous actors Karl , Emil and Eduard Devrient . Her brother was Waldemar Staegemann .
After completing her vocal training with her father, she was a celebrated concert soprano around the turn of the century , performing in Berlin , Vienna and Prague , and was particularly regarded as an excellent lied interpreter . In 1899 she went on a concert tour through Eastern Europe . Composers such as Carl Reinecke and Hans Pfitzner dedicated song compositions to her.
After her wedding to the composer Count Sigwart zu Eulenburg in Leipzig on September 21, 1909 , she said goodbye to the stage. The couple had another highly musical son, Friedrich "Friedel" Maximilian Philipp Donatus (* February 19, 1914, † February 2, 1936), who became Kapellmeister at a young age, but died in 1936 during a military exercise.
