Helga Luckenbach

Helga Seeger-Luckenbach (born September 18, 1935 in Wuppertal ) is a German economist . From 1969 to 2004 she was Professor of Economic Theory and Policy as well as International Economic Relations at the Justus Liebig University in Giessen .

Live and act

Luckenbach was born in Wuppertal and studied at the Universities of Cologne , Hamburg and Munich . In 1959 she graduated as an economist in Cologne and was also in Cologne in 1963 with a dissertation on Welfare Economics and Theory of General Balance. With special consideration of international trade for Dr. rer. pole. PhD. 1969 habilitation they are also in Cologne with the work of economic growth and international trade for Political Sciences. In 1961 she became managing partner of a wholesale company.

A year later she became an employee of Theodor Wessels at the political science seminar at the University of Cologne. In 1969 she was represented at the University of Mainz for an economics chair and in the same year was offered a professorship in Economics III at the University of Gießen, which she followed. In 1971 she was a member of the statutes convention of the university and two years later refused a call to the founding senate of the comprehensive university in Paderborn . In 1975 she became dean for the economics department for the first time and was again in 1986 and 1997. Luckenbach also works as a lecturer at the Administration and Business Academy (VWA) in Giessen.

In Giessen, she worked with Hans-Rimbert Hemmer and Martin Glaum, specializing in international economics . In the Giessen working group for economic policy studies , she worked with professors Hans-Rimbert Hemmer, Volbert Alexander , Herbert Müller and Wolfgang Scherf .

Luckenbach was one of the signatories of the Euro-critical manifesto The Monetary Policy Decisions of Maastricht: A Danger for Europe (1992). She was one of the 68 main illustrators of the 2013 alternative and was a member of the scientific advisory board of the Alternative for Germany party until July 2015 .

She was married to neurosurgeon Wolfgang Seeger .
