Hans-Rimbert Hemmer

Hans-Rimbert Hemmer (born April 22, 1941 in Essen ) is a professor emeritus for economics . His focus was on developing and transition countries .

Life

Hemmer studied at the universities in Heidelberg , Cologne and Mainz . He received his diploma in Mainz in 1964 and obtained his doctorate there in 1967. rer. pole. From 1968 to 1969 he worked in the economic department of the Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau (KfW). 1971 followed his habilitation in economics. In 1971 he became the chair of economics and developing country research at the Justus Liebig University in Giessen . There he was most recently chairman of the examination committee for the department of economics and was a member of the Center for International Development and Environmental Research (ZEU). Parallel to his work at the University of Giessen, Hemmer was on the scientific advisory board of the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development . From 1988 to 1993 he was the curator of the German Foundation for International Development (DSE). He was visiting professor at the Catholic University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt in 1992 and at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in 1997 . In 2000 he returned to the Reconstruction Loan Corporation and became Head of Evaluation of Financial Cooperation . In 2006 he retired. He is still active for Gopa Consultants .

Hemmer traveled to developing countries several times for his work. As the 60th developing country, he traveled to Ethiopia in 2007 on behalf of the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development .
