Helge Matthiesen (* 1964 in Rendsburg ) is a German journalist and has been editor-in-chief of the General-Anzeiger in Bonn since January 1, 2015 .

Life

Matthiesen studied history , political science and geography at the Georg-August-Universität in Göttingen . From 1986 to 1988 he completed an internship at the Walsroder Zeitung . In 1998 he received his doctorate and then went to work as an editor for the Waldeckische Landeszeitung in Korbach . He worked there until 2001. From 2002 to 2007 he was head of the Flensburg city editorial office at the Schleswig-Holstein newspaper publisher . In 2008 he became deputy editor-in-chief and head of the news desk at Bremer Tageszeitungen AG .

In 2011, Matthiesen switched to the Schleswig-Holstein newspaper publisher, where he replaced Stephan Richter as editor-in-chief.

On January 1, 2015, Matthiesen took over as editor-in-chief at General-Anzeiger in Bonn. The post has been vacant since the beginning of July 2014. At that time, the long-time editor-in-chief of the General-Anzeiger Andreas Tyrock switched to the Westdeutsche Allgemeine Zeitung in Essen . Since then, the deputy editors-in-chief Ulrich Lüke and Andreas Mühl had been in charge of the General-Anzeiger.
