Heliconia danielsiana is a species ofthe Heliconia family (Heliconiaceae). It is native to Costa Rica and Panama.

description

Heliconia danielsiana is an evergreen, perennial, herbaceous plant , vegetatively similar to a banana plant and with a height of 4.5 to 8 meters. There are two to four green leaves per shoot , the longest being up to 280 centimeters long and 57 centimeters wide.

The up to 100 centimeters long inflorescences hanging down, the inflorescence can be found twenty to thirty spiraling up two lines arranged bracts , the middle is always orange outside and woolly yellow brown hairy to orange.

Each coil consists of 15 to 20 flowers , the flower envelope is white at the base, then yellow and bald to soft with yellow to cinnamon-brown hair.

Heliconia danielsiana is endemic to Costa Rica and Panama.

The species was first described in 1984 by Walter John Emil Kress .
