Heliconia osaensis is a species ofthe Heliconia family (Heliconiaceae). It is native to southern Central America.
description
Heliconia osaensis is an evergreen, perennial, herbaceous plant , vegetatively similar to a canna plant and with a height of 1 to 3 meters. There are five to six leaves per shoot , the longest being up to 150 centimeters long and 25 centimeters wide.
The up to 20 centimeters long inflorescences are upright, each inflorescence has five to twelve two-line bracts .
Each winding consists of eight to twelve resupinate flowers , the flower envelope is orange to red-orange at the base, yellow-green or green and slightly harsh-haired towards the extreme end.
distribution
Heliconia osaensis is native from Honduras to Colombia.
Systematics and botanical history
The species was first described by Georg Cufodontis in 1933 .
