Hellmuth Petriconi

Hellmuth Petriconi (born April 1, 1895 in Hamburg ; † November 1, 1965 ) was a German Romance studies and literary scholar .

life and work

Petriconi, who had spent part of his youth in South America, did his doctorate in 1923 in Würzburg with Arthur Franz on Ricardo Palma, the author of the "Tradiciones Peruanas" ( Revue hispanique 57). He completed his habilitation in Frankfurt in 1925 with Matthias Friedwagner on contemporary Spanish literature since 1870 (Wiesbaden 1926). In 1932 he was appointed full professor in Greifswald and in 1945 as a colleague of Rudolf Grossmann in Hamburg . In 1960 he was elected a full member of the Göttingen Academy of Sciences .
