Helma Knorscheidt (born December 31, 1956 in Nauendorf ), married Helma Teuscher , is a German athlete who - starting for the GDR - was one of the world's best shot putters in the early 1980s .

Life

She won silver at the Universiade 1979 and gold in 1981 in Bucharest. At the European Indoor Championships in 1981 she was third and at the European Championships in 1982 sixth (20.10 - 19.64 - 20.21 - invalid - 20.15 - 20.21 m ). In 1983 she won silver at the European Indoor Championships . Her greatest success is the silver medal at the 1983 World Championships in Helsinki (20.30 - 20.70 m - 20.55 - 20.47 - invalid - 20.25).

In 1984 she was awarded the Patriotic Order of Merit in bronze.

Helma Knorscheidt started for the SC Chemie Halle . During her competition time she was 1.76 m tall and weighed 90 kg. In the documents on state doping in the GDR that became public after the fall of the Wall , the name of Knorscheidt was found among the doped athletes.

As a senior, Helma Teuscher continues to be active in sports. One of her greatest successes is the title in the shot put W50 to the XVII. World Athletics Championships 2007 in Riccione (Italy) with 14.40 m (3 kg ball), as well as the shot put world record W50 at the Senior European Championships 2008 in Ljubljana with 14.94 m (was surpassed by Alexandra Marghieva in 2009 ) .
