Helmut Donat (born April 7, 1947 in Naensen ) is a German historian, publicist and publisher .

biography

Donat completed an apprenticeship as a banker in Wolfsburg . He then passed the Abitur and studied in Braunschweig to become a teacher. In 1972 he moved to Bremen . Until 1981 he worked as a lecturer and academic tutor at the University of Bremen . In 1981 he self-published Auf der Flucht shot  ... writings by and about the pacifist civilization critic Hans Paasche . In 1983 Econ-Verlag published the Lexicon The Peace Movement, edited by Donat together with Karl Holl .

In 1984 Donat and Horst Temmen founded the Donat & Temmen publishing house , which existed until 1987. In the same year Temmens Edition Temmen and Donats Donat Verlag emerged from the publishing house , which has been based in Bremen- Borgfeld since 1989 .

Donat is co-founder of the Working Group on Historical Peace Research (AKHF), established in 1984, as well as founder and co-editor of the series Das Andere Deutschland .

In terms of journalism, Helmut Donat can be found in the young left world and in the left-liberal taz . In the Weser-Kurier he was given space to present his publishing and authoring activities.
