Helmut Fink (politician)

Helmut Fink (born May 27, 1928 in Oberbiel ; † January 8, 1990 in Westerburg ) was a German politician ( SPD ).

Life

Fink attended elementary school and then completed an apprenticeship as a precision mechanic, which he completed in 1945 with the journeyman's examination. Towards the end of the Second World War he was drafted and was taken prisoner. After his release from captivity, he worked as a precision mechanic and lathe operator until 1956. He had been a member of IG Metall since 1948 and joined the SPD in 1953, for which he served full-time as party secretary from 1956 to 1982. In addition, he volunteered as a preacher in the Protestant church. From 1970 to 1975 he was a member of the church leadership and then a member of the Synod of the Evangelical Church in Hesse and Nassau .

Fink was from 1955 to 1970 district chairman of the SPD in the Oberwesterwaldkreis . He was involved in local politics , was elected to the district council of the Oberwesterwaldkreis in 1956 and was also a member of the district committee until 1969. From 1969 to 1981 he was chairman of the SPD district parliamentary group in the Oberwesterwald and, after the regional reform in 1974, in the Westerwald district . From 1960 he was a member of the city council and from 1960 to 1970 first alderman in Westerburg.

Fink belonged to the Rhineland-Palatinate state parliament from December 16, 1969, when he replaced the deceased member of parliament Otto Schmidt , until 1987. In the state elections in 1971 , 1975 , 1979 and 1983 he was elected to parliament via a list of the SPD . From 1969 to 1971 he was a member of the Committee for Administrative Reform and from 1971 to 1987 a member of the Petitions Committee, from 1975 as Deputy Chairman. He was also a member of the Legal Committee and the Intermediate Committee from 1983 to 1987.
