Helmut Konrad (politician, 1926)

Helmut Friedrich Konrad (born February 9, 1926 in Kümbdchen ; † March 28, 2009 in Simmern / Hunsrück ) was a German farmer and politician ( FDP ).

Life

Konrad attended elementary school from 1932 to 1940 and vocational school from 1940 to 1942. Between 1940 and 1943 he did an agricultural apprenticeship and from 1942 to 1944 he attended two semesters at the agricultural school. In 1943 he passed the assistant examination. He participated in the war from 1944 to 1948 and was then taken prisoner of war . In 1953 he passed the master craftsman's examination and in 1961 took over his parents' farm.

politics

In 1944, at the age of 18, Konrad became a member of the NSDAP . After the war he was initially independent and joined the FDP in 1968. From 1960 to 1989 he was a member of the Kümbdchen local council and in 1989 he became a member of the district council.

In 1987 he was elected to the eleventh state parliament of Rhineland-Palatinate in state constituency 2 , to which he belonged for two electoral terms until 1996. In the 11th electoral term of the Landtag he was a member of the commission according to Article 10 of the Basic Law, the Parliamentary Control Commission, the Petitions Committee, the Prison Commission and the Enquete Commission “Possibilities of direct citizen participation and decision-making in representative democracy”. In the 12th electoral term he was deputy chairman of the committee for agriculture, viticulture and forestry and a member of the commission under Article 10 of the Basic Law, the parliamentary control commission and the petitions committee.

In addition, Konrad was deputy chairman or chairman of the regional agricultural committee, chairman of the board of the Hunsrück farmers' cooperative in Kümbdchen, district chairman of the Rhine-Hunsrück farmers' and winegrowers' association, vice- chairman and member of the executive committee of the Rhineland-Nassau farmers' and winegrowers' association, member of the general assembly and of the Board of Directors of the Rhineland-Palatinate Chamber of Agriculture , the Board of Directors of Agricultural Social Insurance in Düsseldorf, the Advisory Board of the CG for Cattle and Meat Hanover, the Supervisory Board of the Hunsrück Bank Simmern, the reconstruction fund according to Vineyard Reconstruction Act and from 2001 to 2009 treasurer of the association of former members of the state parliament.
