Helmut Kuhn (born August 11, 1931 in Offenbach am Main ) is a Hessian politician ( CDU ) and was Lord Mayor of Hanau from January 1984 to May 1985 .

Life

Kuhn studied commercial teaching in Frankfurt am Main . From 1955 he worked as a qualified commercial teacher at the Theodor-Heuss-Schule in Offenbach. From 1974, he was senior director of the commercial school I in Hanau. After serving as mayor, he returned to the commercial school I until his retirement in 1997.

He is a member of the CDU. From 1972 to 1974 he was city ​​councilor of Steinheim , between 1974 and 1977 honorary city councilor, from 1977 to 1984 chairman of the CDU city council group. On January 9, 1984, he was elected Lord Mayor of Hanau by a newly formed coalition of the CDU and FDP. In the local elections in 1985, his coalition could not defend the majority, so that he was replaced by his predecessor Hans Martin . Kuhn's term of office ended on May 20, 1985. During his term of office, the Brothers Grimm Fairy Tale Festival was founded as well as the restoration of Philippsruhe Castle after a fire. After his term in office, Kuhn remained active in local politics.

He was awarded the Medal of Merit of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany for his commitment to local politics .
