Helmut Moos (born February 20, 1931 in Bonn ; † October 11, 2017 ) was a German sculptor . He studied from 1949 to 1958 with Josef Jaekel and Gerhard Marcks in Cologne and Hans Wimmer at the Art Academy in Nuremberg.

Since 1958 he was married to the writer Hildegard Moos-Heindrichs , with whom he has four children. His son Burkhard Moos founded the Rosiny-Moos architectural office with Ursula Rosiny-Moos, daughter of the architect Nikolaus Rosiny . Daughter Veronika Moos-Brochhagen is also an artist. In 1959 he set up a studio in Bensberg- Lustheide and lived there until he moved to Bonn in 1990. From 1975 he also worked in the Obermühle, a historic watermill in Urmersbach in the Eifel , where he worked until 2014. His works in the St. Katharina Church in Hückeswagen-Wiehagen, built in 1978, are significant; the furnishings there are largely due to him (an art inventory on behalf of the Archdiocese of Cologne was carried out in 2015).

In addition to small sculptures of people and animals and profane monuments, he mainly created works for sacred spaces such as altars, crucifixes, portals for the Sacred Heart Church in Euskirchen or a pulpit for the Brunswick Cathedral .

Moos died in October 2017 at the age of 86. He was buried in an urn on November 4, 2017 at the Beuel parish cemetery.
