Helmut Obermayr (* 3. August 1949 in Kirchdorf an der Krems ) is an Austrian lawyer , journalist and former radio - director .

Life and work

Helmut Obermayr graduated from the Stiftsgymnasium Kremsmünster in 1967 and received his doctorate in 1971. He then worked as an assistant at the Institute for Business Law ( public law ) at the University of Social and Economic Sciences in Linz and as a lecturer . He then worked from 1973 to 1975 at the Upper Austria Chamber of Commerce .

In 1975 he started working at the ORF regional studio in Upper Austria , where he was responsible for the religion section from May 1988 as the presenter for Upper Austria today and from 1994 onwards. From 1999 he was head of the ORF radio main religion department in Vienna.

He is considered the initiator of the " Friedenslicht aus Bethlehem" campaign, which was first carried out in 1986 by the ORF regional studio in Upper Austria .

In 1998 he was the founder of the Ecumenical Summer Academy in Kremsmünster Abbey . This is provided by the Ecumenical Council of Churches in Austria , the Catholic Private University Linz , the Evangelical Educational Organization Upper Austria, the church newspaper of the Diocese of Linz , the ORF regional studio Upper Austria, the ORF religious departments on television and radio, the Kremsmünster Abbey and organized by the state of Upper Austria .

On February 8, 2002, he was the ORF Foundation Council appointed Country Director (country director) of the Regional Studio Upper Austria and held this office until his retirement from. Kurt Rammerstorfer has been his successor since January 1, 2012 .

He is married with three children and lives in Traun .
