Helmut Scholz (politician, 1924)

Helmut Scholz (born October 28, 1924 in Wingendorf ; † March 20, 1967 ) was a German politician ( SED ). He was the deputy minister for transport in the GDR .

Life

Scholz trained as a locksmith and was subsequently used as Lokschlosser, Lokheizer and drivers in Deutsche Reichsbahn operates, including the depot Dresden-Friedrichstadt.

From 1950 to 1963 Scholz was a candidate and from 1963 a member of the Central Committee of the SED . From 1952 to 1955 and from 1957 to 1958 he headed the Reichsbahn repair shop in Meiningen . In the meantime, he completed his studies at the industrial institute of the University of Transport in Dresden with a degree in economics. In 1958, Scholz was a member of the Warsaw Treaty States' Transport Staff . From 1959 he worked as deputy minister for transport in the GDR and as deputy general director of the Deutsche Reichsbahn.

Scholz had a fatal accident in 1967.

  • The Reichsbahn repair shop in Meiningen, of which he was head for many years, was given the honorary name "Helmut Scholz" after his death.
