Helmut Wirth (born July 18, 1933 in Bretten ) is a German engineer , fistball player and politician ( CDU ).

Life

After attending school, Wirth studied civil engineering from 1953 to 1957 at the Technical University of Fridericiana in Karlsruhe . In 1958 he started his own business as a civil engineer with an office for civil engineering in Bretten. In addition to his professional activity, he was a member of the Melanchthon Association in Bretten. He also played sports and was second German champion and first southern German champion in fistball in 1975. In addition, he held various sports posts.

Wirth was elected city ​​councilor in Bretten in 1965, where he was elected deputy chairman of the CDU parliamentary group. From 1971 he was a district councilor for the district of Karlsruhe . In the 1980s he was chairman of the CDU parliamentary group in the Bretten city council and since 1984 first mayor (deputy mayor) of the major district town.

In the 1976 state election , Wirth was elected as a member of the Baden-Württemberg state parliament through a direct mandate from the Bretten constituency, to which he belonged until 1988. In the state elections in 1980 and 1984 , he was able to defend the direct mandate. In parliament he was deputy chairman of the finance committee.

Helmut Wirth is married and has two children.
