Helmuth Ascher (born April 22, 1930 in Wörgl ; † November 29, 2013 there ) was an Austrian photographer and self-taught painter.

Life

Thanks to his father Ernst Ascher, a teacher for picture education, Helmuth Ascher began to draw enthusiastically in his early youth. After his apprenticeship as a photographer , he went to Switzerland ( Solothurn and Aarau ) in 1947 to gain professional experience. In 1953 he returned to Wörgl , and after completing his master craftsman's examination, opened his photo studio with a shop in his parents' house. His autodidactic painting activity, which shaped his entire life, pushed public through exhibitions from 1977.

He was a member of the Tyrolean artists and the Styrian Association of Visual Artists .
