Helmuth Schaller

Helmuth Schaller (born December 1, 1923 in Nuremberg ; † March 1, 1999 in Feucht ) was a German entrepreneur and politician of the CSU . From 1958 to 1962 he was a member of the Bavarian State Parliament .

Life and work

Schaller attended primary school in Nuremberg. After finishing school, he first completed a three and a half year apprenticeship as a toolmaker , after which he studied telecommunications technology in Halle and Magdeburg . During the Second World War he was used in military service in the Air Force. In 1945 he moved to Feucht, where he opened a retail store for radios. A year later he passed the master's examination as a radio mechanic. In 1952 he founded a furniture store and a mechanical factory with toolmaking in addition to his existing business, from which later the Schaller GmbH emerged.

politics

Schaller was district chairman of the CSU in the district of Nuremberg and since 1956 a member of the district council, he was also a member of the administrative board of the Kreissparkasse Nürnberg. In the state elections in 1958 he was elected to the state parliament through a mandate in the constituency of Middle Franconia , where he was a member of the Committee on Economics and Transport.

Schaller affair

In 1962, Schaller was involved in a donation affair when he illegally sold a state-owned property near Schwaig and received donations from the real estate agent Josef Hackel. As a result, Schaller was not nominated again as a candidate for the state parliament by the CSU, after the 1962 election he left parliament.

Private

Schaller had been married since 1951, from this marriage the son René, born in 1953, who died in 1998. His widow Grete died in 2007 and was involved in Schaller GmbH until death.
