Helmuth v. Blucher

Helmuth von Blücher (born August 6, 1805 in Wasdow ; † October 14, 1862 ibid) was a German chemist and pharmacist at the University of Rostock.

His parents were Georg Ludwig Ernst von Blücher (* August 16, 1767; † October 26, 1828) and his wife Sophie Schmidt (* October 31, 1774; † January 25, 1827). His father was a judge and landowner.

Life

Helmuth von Blücher attended the large city school Rostock and the Ernestinum Gotha . In 1823 he began to study law at the Georg-August University in Göttingen . Then he dealt with physics and mathematics . From the University of Rostock on June 26, 1828 to the Magister phil. PhD . He then traveled through England, France and Germany. The University of Rostock appointed him an associate professor on December 17, 1831 and full professor for chemistry and pharmacy on August 15, 1834 . He became the successor to Gustav Peter Samuel Mähl (1789–1833). When he left in 1850, he was followed by Franz Ferdinand Schulze (1815–1873). After his retirement , v. Blücher (probably as the heir to his father's estate) worked in practical agriculture until he died in Wasdow in 1862 at the age of 57.

He was a member of the Mecklenburg Corps Vandalia Göttingen (1826) and Vandalia Rostock (1829). Both corps later awarded him honorary membership. He was married to Henriette Dororthea Albertine Charlotte von Rieben (born November 29, 1819, † July 9, 1901). The couple had several children.
