Henning Zoz (born April 1, 1964 in Siegen ) is a German nanotechnologist , expert for high-speed mills and entrepreneur .

Education and Academic Activities

Henning Zoz studied and did his doctorate in Mexico City at the Instituto Politécnico Nacional University , where he is now a professor at the research facility “Centro de Investigación e Innovación Tecnológica”.

Research and Development

Around 1990, Zoz founded a research and development company for nanostructured materials, Zoz GmbH with headquarters in Hünsborn . In this context he maintains a number of international collaborations, including with the Instituto Politécnico Nacional in Mexico in a postgraduate program .

As an inventor , he holds several patents in the USA for technical high-performance devices, especially high-energy mills.

The Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology supports the research company von Zoz and emphasizes its international network. Among other things, Zoz tries to reduce the particle size from 40 to 50 micrometers (conventional cement) to two to three micrometers by processing the cement materials in Zoz mills, and thereby achieve improved material properties. In 2009, the Federal Ministry of Education and Research approved a research project worth 1.1 million euros , which Henning Zoz is carrying out together with his company, the University of Siegen and Dyckerhoff AG . The goal of the project is the production of high performance and ultra high performance concrete from Portland cement , wherein the CO 2 emissions to be reduced.

other activities

In addition to the nano sector, Zoz is involved in several other companies in various industries. He started an initiative to motivate German students to study in Japan with a view to new technologies. In this regard, he initiated and organized exchange programs as well as school and university partnerships. In addition, Henning Zoz is involved in local politics for the FDP . Henning Zoz comes from an Austro-German family also written in Zotz . Zoz is married and has four children.

Henning Zoz has been a member of the AfD since November 2017 . In March 2018, the AfD-affiliated Desiderius Erasmus Foundation announced that it had appointed Zoz to the foundation's board of trustees.

When he ran as a candidate for Alternative für Deutschland for the mayor's office of the city of Siegen in 2020, the election officer did not recognize his doctorate. His professorship is still being examined.

criticism

In the invitation to schools to the “German-Japanese Nanostructure Symposium ” from March 7th to 8th, 2016 by the Zoz Group, the company stated:

“We are not aimed at people with colored hair, tin on their faces and those who cannot lift their feet and can barely hold their trousers on their hips and / or who are barely able to use proper language. No entry for masked people - in the town hall and in the ZTC no hats, no hoods and no helmet on their heads. For participants from at least 17 countries, we deliver a figurehead of Germany to the world and expect appropriate clothing and appearance. "

As a result, several school directors from the 44 institutes in the Siegen-Wittgenstein district were critical of the formulation that this borders on " discrimination " - many good students have "colored hair and piercings ", or are "gifted", but 'masked', or speak bad German.

Awards

In October 2011 Zoz was named "Manager of the Year 2011" for the South Westphalia area .
