Henri Dor (born October 4, 1835 in Vevey , † October 28, 1912 in Lyon , reformed , resident in Tolochenaz ) was a Swiss ophthalmologist .

Life

Henri Dor was born on October 4, 1835 in Vevey, the son of the pastor and director of the institute in Vevey Charles Dor. Henri Dor graduated from the University of Zurich with a degree in medicine before continuing his education with leading ophthalmologists in Germany , including Albrecht von Graefe , in Great Britain and France .

Subsequently, Dor worked as an ophthalmologist in Vevey from 1860. In 1867 he took over the chair for ophthalmology at the University of Bern , which he resigned in 1876 because of the grievances at the Bern Eye Clinic. Then Dor founded a private clinic in Lyon.

Henri Dor made a name for himself both as a doctor and as a scientist. He wrote about seventy articles on the physiology of vision and clinical ophthalmology.

In 1863, Henri Dor married Isabella Christina, a native of Scotland , daughter of Thomas Hutchinson. He died on October 28, 1912, a few weeks after he had turned 77 in Lyon.
