Henri de La Mothe-Houdancourt (* 1602 or 1612; † February 24, 1684 at Mazères Castle, Barran ) was a French bishop .

Life

Henri de La Mothe was the fifth son of Philippe de La Mothe, Lord of Houdancourt in Picardy , and his third wife, Louise du Plessis-Piquet. The year of his birth is given as 1602 and 1612. His brothers were Marshal Philippe de La Mothe-Houdancourt , Duke of Cardona, and the Bishop of Saint-Flour, Jérôme de La Mothe-Houdancourt .

Henri studied in Paris, was there for the doctor of theology doctorate and then Provisor of the College of Navarre . On January 5, 1642 he was ordained Bishop of Rennes and in 1651 took over the office of first almsman of the Queen Mother, Anna of Austria , which he held until her death in 1666. Appointed Commander of the Order of the Holy Spirit , he received the Collane on December 31, 1661 .

Promoted to Archbishop of Auch in 1661 , he died on February 24, 1684 in the summer residence of the Archbishops of Auch at Mazères Castle in Barran.
