Henry Almén

Henry "Tandpetarn" Almén (born February 22, 1896 , † January 20, 1974 ) was a Swedish football player .

Career

Almén played for IFK Göteborg in the 1910s and 1920s . In the national championship held before the introduction of the Allsvenskan as a national league in cup form, he reached the final of the Svenska Mästerskapet with the club in 1918 . At the Olympic Stadium in Stockholm , alongside Herbert Karlsson , Caleb Schylander , Erik Hjelm , Mauritz Sandberg and Valdus Lund, he was part of the team that won the Von Rosens for the third time in the club's history after a 5-0 final win over Helsingborgs IF . Cup won.

As early as 1917, the selection committee of the Svenska Fotbollförbundet considered Almén as a selection player in the Swedish national team . In June of that year he made his colors debut in a 1-1 draw with Denmark , while his Gothenburg team-mate Erik Börjesson was the goalscorer for Sweden. The following year he played three more games, including two losses to Denmark and one loss to Norway .

Nothing is known about the further life of Almén - especially away from the football field.
