Henry Wilson (politician, 1778)

Henry Wilson (born 1778 in Dauphin , Dauphin County , Pennsylvania , †  August 14, 1826 in Allentown , Pennsylvania) was an American politician . Between 1823 and 1826 he represented the state of Pennsylvania in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Henry Wilson first attended preparatory schools. After a subsequent law degree in Harrisburg and his license as a lawyer in 1812, he began to practice in Allentown in this profession. Between 1815 and 1821 he worked for the court administration in Lehigh County there . Politically, he was a member of the Democratic Republican Party . In the 1820s he joined the movement around the future President Andrew Jackson .

In the congressional elections of 1822 Wilson was elected in the seventh constituency of Pennsylvania to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC , where he took the second mandate of this district on March 4, 1823 alongside Daniel Udree . After being re-elected, he could remain in Congress until his death on August 14, 1826 . After that his seat fell to Jacob Krebs .
