Hera Hilmar
Hera Hilmar (* 27. December 1988 as Hera Hilmarsdóttir ) is an Icelandic actress .
Life
Hera Hilmar was born as the daughter of the director Hilmar Oddsson and the actress Þórey Sigþórsdóttir . Her grandfather was the playwright and theater director Oddur Björnsson (1932–2011).
From 1995 she took on her first roles in her father's film productions. In 2007, she played in Guðný Halldórsdóttirs Drama Veðramót the role of DISA . For this achievement she was nominated at the 2007 Edda Awards in the category of Actress of the Year (Leikkona ársins í aðalhlutverki). From 2008 to 2011 Hera Hilmar studied Professional Acting at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA).
Hera Hilmar was first noticed internationally in 2012 with a small role in Joe Wright's Tolstoy film adaptation of Anna Karenina . She had her breakthrough with the television series Da Vinci's Demons , in which she played the role of Vanessa Moschella in three seasons . At the Berlinale 2015 she was named one of the European “ Shooting Stars ” of the year.
This was followed by roles in the international films Inside Wikileaks - The Fifth Power , Save Christmas! and Alleycats - Fatal Delivery . In 2016 Hilmar starred in Baltasar Kormákurs's thriller The Oath .
In 2018 Hera Hilmar took on a role in the Peter Jackson- produced film adaptation of the steampunk novel Mortal Engines .
