Herbert Ehrbar

Herbert Ehrbar (* 1933 in Heidelberg-Kirchheim ; † May 13, 2011 ) was a German local politician (non-party).

Life

Ehrbar attended elementary school in St. Ilgen and following the secondary school in Heidelberg and the Commercial College . After an apprenticeship, he spent his first professional years in the Heidelberg pension office and later in the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs in Stuttgart . In 1966 Ehrbar was elected mayor of St. Ilgen. When the new municipality of Leimen emerged from Leimen and St. Ilgen in 1975 through a municipal reform , Ehrbar was elected its mayor. During his term of office, which began in 1976, he was granted city rights in 1981 and was elevated to the status of a major district town in 1992. In the course of this, Ehrbar himself was promoted to the rank of Lord Mayor . He held this office until 2000. At the end of his term of office, Ehrbar was accused of infidelity. It was about real estate transactions to the detriment of the city of Leimen. However, the intended process did not materialize because of Ehrbar's poor health, and the proceedings were discontinued in 2010.

In addition to his political activities, he was a member of the Presidium of the Badischer Sportbund, President of the Baden-Württemberg Weightlifting Association , President of the Federal Association of German Weightlifters , Vice President of the European Weightlifting Association and the International Weightlifting Association , President of the Baden Table Tennis Association and from 1991 to 1996 President of the Baden Hockey Association, as well from 1996 to 2000 President of its successor, the Badisch-Württemberg Hockey Association. After the end of his presidency he became honorary president of several of these associations. He was also an honorary member of the AC Germania St. Ilgen.

A reserve officer ( colonel ) in the Air Force was honorable . He died in May 2011 after suffering from severe cancer and was buried in the forest cemetery in St. Ilgen.
