Herbert Nobis

Herbert Nobis (born June 22, 1941 in Mönchengladbach ) is a German composer for contemporary music and former university lecturer for music in Aachen .

Live and act

Herbert Nobis studied church music and composition with, among others, Jürg Baur at the Cologne University of Music . From 1979 to 2005 he worked as a professor for composition and composition at the Musikhochschule Aachen , which was affiliated as a department to the Cologne Musikhochschule in 1972 and which he had also headed as its dean from 1991 to 1999 .

Numerous works for solo instruments, chamber music, choir and orchestra by Herbert Nobis, who is still active as a composer, have been published by several German publishers. He also published music theory textbooks on harmony and solmization . His works are repeatedly performed at numerous concerts and radio recordings in Germany and abroad. In addition, Nobis is a sought-after member of the jury at major music competitions.

Nobis was married to Ulla Graf-Nobis until her death in 2016 .
