Herbert Propst

Herbert Propst (born May 21, 1928 in Vienna ; † February 6, 1997 there ) was an Austrian actor.

Life

After graduating from high school , he began to study theology, but then changed his goals and worked for a few years as a civil servant at the Post Office Savings Bank. His decision to pursue acting was followed by a visit to the Krauss drama school . There he passed the final exam on the second attempt.

His next acting positions: two years in Klagenfurt , five years in Graz , one year in Kassel , one year in Salzburg , where director Leon Epp hired him in 1961 for the Vienna Volkstheater . From 1980 Propst played at the Vienna Burgtheater .

Propst not only played on stage, but also on television, for example in Der alten Richter and other Austrian television series such as Oberinspektor Marek . Herbert Propst was the recipient of the Kainz Medal .
