Heribert Hallermann

Heribert Hallermann (born March 9, 1951 in Dortmund ) is a German canon lawyer and full professor of canon law at the Julius Maximilians University of Würzburg .

Hallermann researches primarily in the area of ​​constitutional law of the Latin Church, the common rights and obligations of the faithful, church association law and religious order law as well as church university law.

Life

After graduating from high school in 1970, Hallermann first studied philosophy and Catholic theology in Eichstätt and Rome , after which he was ordained a priest in the diocese of Eichstätt in 1975 . First he worked as a chaplain in Neumarkt in the Upper Palatinate and in the cathedral parish of Eichstätt. Between 1981 and 1996 he worked as city youth pastor and president of the BDKJ in Nuremberg as well as chairman of the state office for Catholic youth work and as state president of the BDKJ in Munich and also as a speaker at the central office for education in the secretariat of the German Bishops' Conference for schools, universities and colleges Academic pastoral care. The work at the DBK also brought him to an in-depth study of canon law with Ilona Riedel-Spangenberger .

Subsequently, he worked until 2003 as an ordinary councilor in Eichstätt and as director of the Eichstätter diocese of Hirschberg Castle.

On October 1, 2003, Heribert Hallermann was appointed university professor (C3) for canon law at the Catholic Theological Faculty of the Bavarian Julius Maximilians University of Würzburg. On March 27, 2009, he was appointed university professor (W 3). From 2013 to 2015 he was Dean of the Catholic Theological Faculty in Würzburg. Since 2005 he has been a member of the Priestly Council of the Diocese of Würzburg. His retirement took place on September 30, 2016.
