Heribert Schützeichel

Heribert Schützeichel (born November 20, 1933 in Rahms near Neustadt (Wied) , † November 7, 2015 in Trier ) was a German Roman Catholic clergyman and theologian .

Life

Heribert Schützeichel was the youngest of six children of Matthias Schützeichel and Gertrud, b. Eudenbach. One of his brothers was the medievalist Rudolf Schützeichel (1927–2016), his oldest brother was the Pallotine Father Wilhelm Schützeichel (1922–1998)

Schützeichenel studied Catholic theology and philosophy in Trier and Munich. On August 3, 1958, he was ordained a priest for the diocese of Trier . After a licentiate in theology took place in 1964 in Trier the promotion of Dr. theol. with the dissertation essence and subject matter of the ecclesiastical teaching authority according to Thomas Stapleton . In 1970 he completed his habilitation with the book The Theology of Faith Calvin . On April 1, 1971, he was offered the chair for Fundamental Theology and Ecumenical Theology at the Trier Theological Faculty . On October 1, 2000, he was released and retired.

One of his main research interests was the theology of Johannes Calvin .
