Hercules Oswald

Herkules Oswald (born January 11, 1823 in Ilanz , † September 21, 1869 in Chur , reformed , entitled to live in Ilanz) was a Swiss politician (liberal).

Life

Herkules Oswald was born on January 11th, 1823 in Ilanz as the son of the businessman Georg Oswald and the regina born Bundi. He received his school education at the Ilanz village school, the Chur cantonal school and the pedagogy in Basel . He then completed a law degree at the Universities of Basel and Munich .

Subsequently, from 1845 he worked as an actuary at the cantonal interrogation office and the criminal court, from 1849 as a lawyer in Ilanz, from 1855 to 1863 as a cantonal instructing judge in Chur and finally as a lawyer in Chur.

Herkules Oswald married Verena, the daughter of the Chur guild master Samuel Bernhard, and Maria, the daughter of the Thusis- born Landammann Martin Schreiber. Oswald died on September 21, 1869 at the age of only 46 in Chur.

Political career

Herkules Oswald, a member of the Liberal Party, began his political career in 1848 in the Grisons Grand Council , of which he was a member until 1849, from 1853 to 1854 and from 1859 to 1860. In addition, he represented the canton in the Council of States between 1862 and 1863 .
