Hermann-Josef Werres (born April 10, 1958 in Roisdorf ) is a former German football player .

Career

Hermann-Josef Werres came through the clubs TuS Roisdorf and Bonner SC - where he had played in the amateur Oberliga Nordrhein in 1979/80 - in 1980 for the second division Fortuna Köln . Under the new Fortune coach Martin Luppen , he completed 35 league games in his first season in the 2nd Bundesliga, 1980/81, alongside fellow players Wolfgang Rolff , Karl-Heinz Mödrath and Johannes Linßen , scoring six goals. From 1980 to 1986 he played 173 times in the 2nd Bundesliga (28 goals) for Cologne. In the 1985/86 season Werres took third place with SC Fortuna behind champions FC Homburg and runner-up Blau-Weiß 90 Berlin. But he only made 16 league appearances. He failed as a player with his teammates Karl Richter , Hans-Jürgen Gede and Bernd Grabosch after the two relegation games on May 13 and 17 (2-0 home win / 1: 3 away defeat) on May 30, 1986 in the decider in Düsseldorf with 0: 8 goals in the Bundesliga promotion to Borussia Dortmund .

In the DFB Cup 1983 he moved into the final on June 11, 1983 in Cologne against local rivals 1. FC Cologne after the 5-0 semi-final success over Borussia Dortmund. In front of 61,000 spectators, the first division team prevailed 1-0 with a goal from Pierre Littbarski in the 68th minute. After the 1985/86 season Werres returned to Bonner SC and later played for FC Remscheid and SC Jülich .

He got into the coaching business in the 1990s at the side of Heinz Hornig at the then top division club FV Bad Honnef . In 1996 he took over as the coach in charge of the TSC Euskirchen association league , which he led to promotion to the Oberliga Nordrhein. After four years with the association league club VfL Rheinbach, Werres took over the coaching position at Germania Dattenfeld in November 2004. With FC Hennef 05 he celebrated promotion to the Middle Rhine League in summer 2010 . Since 2011 he has been a trainer in Dattenfeld at TSV Germania Windeck .
