The Hermann-Stamm-Realschule ( State Realschule Schwabach until December 18, 2015 ) is a Realschule in the Middle Franconian town of Schwabach and was inaugurated in 1972. It is an open all-day school and in 2016 had 792 students and 51 full-time teachers.

history

Due to the fact that students from Schwabach had to attend secondary schools in neighboring towns because this type of school was not available in the city, a citizens' initiative was founded on November 25, 1966 with the aim of building their own secondary school in Schwabach. The city council gave in to the wishes of the citizens and in February 1968 applied to the Bavarian Ministry of Culture to establish a state secondary school.

The school went into operation in September 1972, but the classes were initially housed in other schools as there was no school building of their own. This was inaugurated on July 5, 1974 after about one and a half years of construction. On October 16, 1983 the secondary school got a gym named after Hans Hocheder , on January 28, 2005 a new building. A biotope and a beekeeping group were also created during Hermann Stamm's tenure .

The first school director was Ernst Hassler from 1972 to 1975. Hermann Stamm followed him. Stamm, who was in the service for 29 years, became the youngest school director in Bavaria at the age of 36 in 1976 and shaped the school, u. a. with measures against right-wing extremist currents at the secondary school and integrating steps for a physically handicapped student, as well as numerous renovation and new building measures. When he retired in 2005, he was the oldest school director in Bavaria. He received several awards, including the Federal Cross of Merit . After his death in 2014, the school was renamed after him in December 2015 to "Hermann-Stamm-Realschule". The third school principal Norbert Mager took up his post in the 2005/2006 school year. Mager was retired in February 2018, and he was succeeded by Nikolaus Schöpp.

In 2016, the Philippine Bishop Valentin Cabbigat Dimoc visited the school as part of a missio campaign .

School life

Theater / musical

The secondary school theater group usually performs a play every year towards the end of the school year. Often this is based on already existing works. The piece was, for example, in May 2014. Dead Girls Never Lie listed that the novel lying dead girls do not by Jay Asher is ajar, Daydream, for the students to the 2015 Bavarian Theater Days were invited based on a novel of a former Neuntklässlerin, and the Inkheart trilogy was the inspiration for a performance ink mania of 2017 in which the author of the books, Cornelia Funke , appears as a character.

Occasionally, instead of a play, a musical is performed, for example The Jungle Book in 2002 , Tanz der Vampire in 2005 and the in-house production Der Musterknabe in 2009 .

Students in an elective group can take part in a student exchange in France and receive a return visit from the partner school in La Haye-du-Puits in Normandy . There are also pen pals .
