Hermann Adalbert Daniel
Hermann Adalbert Daniel (born November 18, 1812 in Köthen (Anhalt) , † September 13, 1871 in Leipzig ) was a geographic writer and hymnologist .
Life
Hermann Adalbert Daniel studied 1830-1834 in Halle (Saale) theology , then worked for many years as a professor at the city's Royal Pädagogium the Francke Foundations and died on 13 September 1871 in Leipzig, where he, after he left his teaching office in 1870, retired would have.
It is Daniel's great and lasting achievement that the geography , which he dealt with in the spirit of Carl Ritter , has found general recognition in his textbooks thanks to the clear representation.
As early as 1844 he published a " Textbook of Geography for Higher Educational Institutions " (64th edition. 1885), added a " Guide " for lower educational institutions (151st edition, 1885) and put the sum of his knowledge in his " Handbuch der Geographie "(Leipzig 1859–63, 3 parts .; 5th edition 1880–83, 4 vols.), Of which an extract was published in the third edition in 1877 (Smaller Handbook of Geography) and in 1883 in the fourth edition (next to it illustrated edition in 2 Vol.) Appeared. Otto Delitsch published his " Handbuch der Geographie " in a new version.
All of these works have been translated into several languages, including Spanish and Modern Greek.
In the theological field he has made a name for himself as a hymnologist with the works " Thesaurus hymnologicus " (Halle 1841–56, 5 vols.) And " Codex liturgicus ecclesiae univerase in epitomen redactus " (Halle 1847–53, 4 vols).
