Hermann Bahner

Hermann Bahner (born September 6, 1867 in Kaiserswerth ; † May 7, 1938 in Langen ) was a German painter from the Düsseldorf School .

Live and act

Hermann Bahner was born in Kaiserswerth in 1867 (today part of Düsseldorf). He studied from 1890 to 1892 as a private student with Olof Jernberg . In the period between 1888 and 1896, he traveled frequently to the Netherlands, particularly Katwijk , but also Dordrecht . In 1901 he moved to Hessen. There he lived and worked in Willingshausen , Bensheim , Oberursel , Schotten and Langen, among others . He preferred to paint landscapes with groups of people and animals. Since he moved to Hesse, he has specialized in forest and town views. In this way he gained international fame. In several German cities there are squares and streets named after Hermann Bahner. a. in Langen (Hermann-Bahner-Straße), where he died in 1938.
