Hermann Becker (politician, 1895)

Hermann Becker (born October 24, 1895 in Oberneisen , Unterlahnkreis , † October 4, 1976 in Diez ) was a German politician of the FDP and a member of the Rhineland-Palatinate state parliament .

Life

After primary school , Hermann Becker attended the rural advanced training school. At the age of 16 he had to take over his parents' farm due to the early death of his father . Becker took part in the First World War as an infantryman and was a Soviet prisoner of war until the end of August 1919 . Back in Oberneisen he continued to run the farm and in 1921 married Minna, b. Großmann from Allendorf .

In 1922 and 1927 his two children Hermann and Hildegard were born. In 1939 he was drafted into military service again briefly in World War II, but returned to Oberneisen, where he continued to run his farm as a farmer. 1942-1945 he was mayor of Oberneisen.

From May 18, 1951 to May 17, 1955 he was for the FDP in the state parliament of Rhineland-Palatinate . There he represented constituency 4 and was a member of the Agriculture and Petitions Committee. In 1954 he was a member of the 2nd Federal Assembly. Besides, and after his time in the state parliament, he continued to run his farm into old age.

In 1959 he and his son Hermann built the Hermannshof in the idyllic Herbachtal between Mensfelden and Oberneisen. As a cattle breeder , Hermann Becker was very successful and won many prizes. In addition to his practical work as a farmer, Hermann Becker also got involved in the associations and committees for his profession.

Hermann Becker was for many years a member of the district council and district committee of the Unterlahn district (today part of the Rhein-Lahn district ). In addition, he was involved for many years in the church council of the Protestant parish of Oberneisen, was a board member of the gymnastics club and was a member of the local clubs of his home parish.

On October 4, 1976, Hermann Becker died shortly before his 81st birthday in the Diezer hospital.
