Hermann Darsow († 1404)

Hermann Darsow († 1404 in Lübeck ) was a Lübeck merchant , councilor and co-founder of the circle society .

Darsow was the son of a citizen of Lübeck of the same name and was elected to the city council in 1386. He represented Lübeck as councilor in Rostock in 1394, and in 1397 together with mayor Hinrich Westhof in matters of the Lüneburg Sate in Lüneburg , where he was once again active as the city's envoy in 1401.

Hermann Darsow belonged to a consortium of six Lübeck citizens in 1374, which the Archbishop of Cologne Friedrich III. of Saarwerden loan 5000 Gulden; the repayment was made in part by the Cologne Jew Isaak von Montjoie . Together with his brother Gerhard, Hermann acquired half of the village of Krummesse and half of Niemark and a share in the Beidendorfer See for 800 marks in 1382 . In 1402 he and his brother Johann bought the village of Stubben for 200 marks.

He was married twice. The first time with a daughter of Johann Spiker, for the second time with a daughter of Nicolaus Molenstrate; from this marriage came his son, the future councilor Hermann Darsow († 1456) . 1375–1392 he lived in the house at Königstrasse 57, then at Königstrasse 91.
