Hermann Hesse (conductor)
Johann Heinrich Karl Hermann Hesse (born July 2, 1861 in Sondershausen , † April 14, 1948 in Lenzburg ) was a German conductor , choir director and organist .
Life
Hesse was the son of a musician and received piano and violin lessons at a young age. In 1879, at the request of his father, Hesse began training as a military bandmaster in Strasbourg , but shortly afterwards he switched to the city conservatory.
After graduating, Hesse took over the position of teacher for piano and theory at the conservatory in Sondershausen. In 1884 he moved to Coburg , where he was appointed music and choir director at the court theater . In 1888 he moved to Lenzburg as conductor of the music association and organist . In 1911 he moved to Aarau , where he had been the director of the orchestra club for a long time, and he was also given the management of the Cecilia club.
Hesse moved to Dresden in 1919 and spent the last years of his life in Lenzburg. He died in 1948 at the age of 87.
