Location of the Wiled in the catchment area of the Northern Dvina |
The Wiled ( Russian Виледь ) is a 321 km long left tributary of the Vytschegda in the Arkhangelsk Oblast in northwestern Russia .
It has its origin in the east of the Wilegodski rajon . Initially the Wiled flows in an easterly direction towards the territory of the Komi Republic , but shortly before it turns north and reaches the Lenski rajon . Below the mouth of the Lutsch , the Wiled turns to the west and shortly afterwards to the south-west. The river now flows again in the Wilegodski rajon. Below the confluence of the Velikaya Ochta , the largest tributary of the Wiled, the Wiled valley is relatively heavily populated. The three largest settlement areas are Fominsk , Vilegodsk and Ilyinsko-Podomskoye . Between the latter two places, the Wiled turns to the northwest and finally flows east of the town of Korjaschma into the Wytschegda. The Wiled drains an area of 5610 km². The spring flood accounts for a large part of the annual runoff. The mean discharge at the Inajewskaja gauge , 60 km above the mouth, is 41.5 m³ / s.
