Karl Hiller

Karl Hiller (born November 3, 1846 in Würzburg , † April 24, 1905 in Graz ) was a German criminal lawyer and university professor .

Life

From 1868 to 1871 he was at the district court of Würzburg . At the University of Heidelberg , he was in 1874 for Dr. iur. PhD . He later received his habilitation there for criminal law and the code of criminal procedure and taught as a private lecturer .

In 1875 he went to Czernowitz as an associate professor . At the newly founded Franz Joseph University he taught his Heidelberg core subjects as well as encyclopedia and methodology of law . Full professor since 1880 , he was dean of his faculty in 1882/82, 1887/88 and 1895/96 and rector of the university in 1885/86 . In 1885 he was honored with the Austrian title of government councilor .

With his profound knowledge of criminal law and Austrian legislation , the University of Graz appointed him to its chair in 1898 . Hiller died in office at the age of 58.
