Alois Handl

Alois Handl (born July 22, 1837 in Feldkirch , Vorarlberg , † February 10, 1915 in Chernivtsi ) was an Austrian physicist.

Life

In 1862 Handl worked as Dr. suppl. at the University of Lviv . When she was Polonized , he switched to teaching at the Theresian Military Academy in Wiener Neustadt in 1872 . Appointed in 1876 by the new Franz Joseph University in Chernivtsi, he built up the chair for experimental physics . In 1879/80 and 1894/95 he was rector of the flourishing university. In 1885 Handl was elected to the German Academy of Sciences Leopoldina . With the chemist Richard Pribram he investigated the viscosity of chemical compounds . When he 1906 after 30 years emeritus was, came Josef Geitler von Armingen to the chair.
