Walther Hörmann from Hörbach

Walther Hörmann von Hörbach (born August 2, 1865 in Gnadenwald , Tyrol , † March 15, 1946 in Innsbruck ) was an Austrian canon lawyer.

Life

Walther Hörmann of Hörbach, son of the writer Ludwig Hörmann of Hörbach and the poet Angelika von Hörmann , studied at the University of Innsbruck jurisprudence and was on June 5, 1884 Fox in the Corps Athesia Innsbruck . He was reciprocated on April 25, 1884 , inactivated on March 18, 1887 , and philistine on March 13, 1888 . After graduating as Dr. jur. (1888) he was in the service of the Tyrolean Financial Procuratorate until 1895. During this time he completed his habilitation in 1891 at the University of Vienna for canon law . In the same year he was re- qualified at the University of Innsbruck. In 1895 he was appointed associate professor for canon law at the University of Innsbruck, in 1897 as associate professor for canon law at the University of Czernowitz and in 1900 as full professor for canon law at the University of Czernowitz. 1903/04 he was rector of the University of Chernivtsi. In 1908 he was appointed full professor of canon law and civil procedural law at the University of Innsbruck as the successor to Ludwig Wahrmund . In 1915/16 he was rector of the University of Innsbruck. The focus of his research was the history of marriage law . On the occasion of his permanent retirement in 1935, he was awarded the Commander's Cross of the Austrian Order of Merit .
