Hermann Hirsch (industrialist)
Hermann Hirsch (born June 10, 1937 in Lower Austria ) is an Austrian entrepreneur . Son of Hans Hirsch .
Life and work
Hermann Hirsch completed an apprenticeship as a bag maker at the Pecenka company in Klagenfurt , which he completed in 1959 with the master's examination as a leather goods dealer and bag maker . At the age of 20, he joined his parents' company (Hans Hirsch and Sons OHG; today Hirsch Armbänder GmbH ) in Klagenfurt, Austria .
On May 6, 1961, he married Heidi Hofer. The marriage had three children: Robert, Monika and Markus Hirsch. In the same year, the company invented the first Hirsch vending machine and thus revolutionized the sale of watch straps (the range of straps was visibly presented in the sales room for the first time). Over time, the design of the Hirsch vending machine was influenced by well-known architects and designers. The automat developed by Professor Hollein was exhibited in the Museum of Modern Art in New York .
In 1967 Hermann Hirsch took over the management of the company Hans Hirsch und Söhne OHG. In 1970 the company moved to Hirschstrasse 5 in Klagenfurt, with 130 employees.
In the following decades the company continued to expand and international sales were established. In 1990 the 100 millionth bracelet for watches was produced and the company employed 640 people.
In 2000, the eldest son Robert Hirsch took over the management of the company, which he finally bought from his father in 2005 - following the family tradition.
