Hermann Koziol (born February 21, 1926 in Beuthen in Upper Silesia , † August 28, 2011 in Schwäbisch Hall ) was a German sculptor .

Life

Koziol, born in 1926 in Beuthen, settled in Hohenlohe after being expelled from Upper Silesia due to the war , where he initially worked in the quarry. He then studied at the Käthe-Kollwitz-Kunstschule and with Georg Kolbe in Berlin. In 1958 he was one of the founding members of the Hohenloher Kunstverein; in the same year he was awarded the Hohenloher Art Prize.

Since the late 1950s, Koziol has made a name for himself in public spaces, particularly with fountains and bronze sculptures. He lived and worked in Neuenstein , from 1974 he lived in Untermünkheim-Kupfer. At the age of 80 he built a new studio there. The studio from 1955 in Neuenstein had meanwhile fallen victim to road construction.

He was involved in numerous solo and group exhibitions. For example in 2001 in Katowice, 2002 in his hometown Bytom and in the same year in Ratingen. In autumn 2003, numerous works by Koziol were on view during the sculpture exhibition Plastic, concrete-abstract in Bronnbach Monastery . In spring 2004 Koziol took part in an art association exhibition in the town hall of Boxberg.
