Hermann Lebermann

Hermann Lebermann , also Levermann (born January 3, 1645 in Lübeck ; † June 26, 1705 ibid) was a German Lutheran clergyman, pastor at Lübeck Cathedral and a member of the Pegnese Flower Order .

Life

Lebermann was the son of the beer grocer and cattle dealer Hinrich Lebermann († 1659) and his wife Catharina († 1667). He attended the Katharineum in Lübeck and studied Protestant theology in Helmstedt and Rostock from 1664 to 1667 . He then worked for a long time as a private tutor, first in the family of Bartold Barkentin near Dassow , then in the family of the Lübeck businessman Franz Jeencke. In 1679 he was appointed preacher at Lübeck Cathedral and in 1704 he was promoted to chief pastor. On June 18, 1705 he suffered a stroke , from the consequences of which he died on June 26. His successor was Christoph Wendt .

In 1675 he was accepted into the Order of Flowers on the recommendation of Matthias Pellicer. It was given the name Corymbo and, as a symbol, ivy - wrapped around the tree of life .

Since 1680 he was married to Elisabeth Froböse, a daughter of the Lübeck brewer Peter Froböse. His son of the same name (* 1682) was matriculated at the University of Rostock in 1705 .

In the cathedral, a full-length memorial picture on the west side of the third northern pillar opposite the pulpit commemorated him.
